Getting to know the Al-Dalieh site and the giant concrete Accropode structures that sit upon it.

3D Collage Model representing different views of Beirut.

This became our project's 'brief within a brief'.

Equation developed from brief to help start producing ideas.

1 of many sheets of Initial ideas produced from using the equation.

Accropode shapes made from Jesmonite in scale to people. Images taken in Felixstowe to start imaging ourselves in the Al Dalieh space next to the Accropode structures.

Exploring texture as a hidden form of language we could play with within a space for visually impaired people. We chose plants as we were inspired by the lack of green space in Beirut.

Bringing intial ideas to life through collage

(hammocks + bird watching + market).

(Physically Disabled + Kids)

Bringing ideas into one space, further developing.

One of the final proposals for the Al Dalieh space: a multi sensory experience including periscope, fishtank containing fish caught and brought by the fishermen, information and shape and texture of the different fish caught in the space, written also in Braille and a water tap for people who can't access the sea easily to feel the water on your skin.

(fishermen + physically disabled + visually impaired + kids)

Utilising the shape and composition of the Accropodes taking advantage of the view up top, while keeping in mind the angle of the ramps for wheelchair users.

Workshop tools and instructions for locals in Beirut to follow our process and generate ideas and discussion about their own space.
